I loved the “tutu skirt” you wore on your video on what you typically wear each weekday. I’ve only seen a rare few, will you be styling one for your line?

I am surprised designers didn’t create “empowered” women’s fashion considering the #metoo movement. Red is bold yes, but deconstruction? Sometimes I think designers are in a bubble and not a reflection of what is actually going on in the world. The belted fashion is more indicative of what is happening in the world. The runway is much too frivolous for the current political climate.

Justine! I know this video is sevens months old, but I didn't know where else to put this! Have you seen the work of Emily Bode at NYFW? I'm not sure if I love what she's doing with her finds, but I am enthralled with the fact that SOMEONE is rescuing American Quilts from the last 150 years and doing something with them. I do that a lot myself, though usually I try to heal them back up as quilts. Have you ever considered vintage textiles as a source of inspiration?

The red belt on the right is very inspired by the Chinese obi from Qin-Ming Dynasty. Chinese has the thin ribbon draping down, Japanese has the obijime tucked away on the two sides.

I love all the outfits on the belt board except the 2nd one–too retro for my taste. I also like the white top with belted red pants. Do you have a video on fitting belts for comfortable all day wear?

Another excellent trend breakdown, thank you Justine. I sew and design for myself and it’s fab to get an insight into trends I may incorporate. But ‘fall’ – uuuugh, it’s been 47C (yes, 47C, not a typo) here in Sydney and I can’t bear to think of anything but swimming! Love the texture of feathers and recently bought a wool/silk fabric with a texture reminiscent of feathers. Off to Canada in March – yay!!Belts are no-no for me, smallish waist and generous bust. Waisted belts make me look less than chic! A belt video would be great x

In my wardrobe, red NEVER goes out of fashion! My favourite colour… And then there's a beautiful plaid (red base of course!) … definitely my season!

As for something I'd never wear, the deconstruction trend — as an hour-glass, I'd just end up looking like the Goodyear blimp! Ugh.

The only one I would actually wear, as shown, is the all black jumpsuit with a belt. There was nothing else presented, even in other pictures I've seen that I'd wear in entirety. I wear almost exclusively neutrals and when I wear prints, they are small. My color comes from belts, scarves, or necklaces. I find the few colorful shirts I have, I almost never wear. I do think these are extreme versions of what will actually be on the regular consumer market though and this might not be my season.
